Mt. Vesuvius

 The Surroundings of Mt.Vesuvius 

Mt.Vesuvius overlooks the bay and city of Naples and sits in the crater of the ancient Somma volcano. Mt.Vesuivius is located near The Tyrrhenian Sea, The Gulf of Taranto, The Aariatic Sea, Taranto and Herculaneum. Mt.Vesuvius is a tourist attraction because it may be one of the worlds most recognized volcano in the world. The Vesuvius National Park was established which only caused more tourist. Mt.Vesuvius most recently erupted in 1944 and is prone to erupt again. Yet there are still many tourists attracted to this volcano. 

Location

Mt. Vesuvius is located in the Province of Naples, Italy. Over on the southeast side of Vesuvius is or was Pompeii before getting completely obliterated by the explosion of August 24th, 79 AD, Nerceria, and Salernum. On the west side of Vesuvius lied the cities of Herculancum, Oplontis, Stabiae, Neopolis, Surrentum, and Misenum.  Vesuvius is also one of the volcanoes that form the Companian Volcanic Arc.
